💸 When I Accidentally Sent ₹800 to the Wrong Person — and What Happened Next

A Real Experience with a Surprising Twist

Last week, I experienced something that reminded me there are still honest people in this world.

I was sitting at home and decided to transfer ₹800 to my wife’s bank account using a popular online payment app. I selected her contact, typed in the amount, and clicked Send. Within seconds, I got the message — "₹800 successfully sent."

Everything seemed fine. But then, a minute later, my wife said, "I didn’t get any money."

I checked the transaction receipt again. That’s when I realized — I had sent the money to another woman who had the same first and last name as my wife! I had selected the wrong contact from the list.

What Happened Next?

Honestly, I thought the money was gone forever. It wasn’t a huge amount, but losing any money never feels good. I was just about to report it to the payment app's customer care when — the next day — I received a phone call.

A soft voice said,
"Hello, I think you mistakenly transferred ₹800 to my account yesterday. I just checked my bank balance and saw your name in the transaction. I’m sending it back to your account now."

I was shocked and deeply thankful.

Within minutes, the money came back to my bank account. She didn’t ask any questions. She didn’t keep the money. She simply did the right thing.

The Kindness of Strangers

In today’s world, we often hear negative stories. But this small incident reminded me that good, honest people still exist — even among strangers.

🔐 Lesson Learned

  1. Always double-check the contact name and number before sending money online.

  2. Keep the transaction ID and screenshots as proof.

  3. And most importantly, never lose hope in humanity — there are still people who value honesty.
